Our Story
During the covid-19 era of remote learning and working from home, an escape for my daughter and me included daily walks around the neighborhood. The sidewalks are peppered with peeks into the the underworld, with gas and water valves, testing wells, CATV and electrical vaults, and of course, beautiful and iconic manhole covers.
We thought they would make great art and tee shirts, so we figured out the best way to transfer them. Wax rubbings on tracing paper became a great medium for capturing the proud surfaces of the covers. From there we photographed them and digitally removed the negative spaces. The result are "rough" impressions of these gorgeous manhole covers that contrast well with their backgrounds.
We've got plenty of new designs on our list once the weather warms up. If you love one of these designs but don't see the product you want, give us a yell, we may be able to quickly add it to a different product or change colors for you.
